Help Rescue Pets - Donate Today!

Southside Animal Shelter rescues at-risk companion animals. Many of these pets need special attention, medical care, love and time. You can help Southside with our rescue efforts by sponsoring the care of one of our pets or adopting and giving them a stable forever home. Please read their story and consider making a much needed donation today.

This is Libby. She is a very special rescue. Rosie the shelter director was at Animal Care and Control the city shelter and as she walked down the row of pets she looked in one cage to find an older black chow sitting quietly. As she looked at this pet she said it spoke to her and told her, “I belong to you”.

It was discovered that Libby had been adopted from Southside Animal Shelter 7 years ago. I’ll guess we’ll never know what Libby’s life was like. I’m sure her family was happy and loving to her when they first brought her home as a puppy, but at some point they changed. Her family decided they didn’t want her anymore. She was discarded at the shelter with an embedded collar. Had they just tied her up in the back yard and forgotten about her? We don’t know, it appears to be what happened. We do know that she is a sweet, quiet, well behaved pet who just likes attention.

If you can find room in your heart and your home, please consider giving Libby a new chance at life with a forever home. One that will always keep her and love her.

Southside is a 501(c)(3) organization and receives no funding other than adoption fees and donations.
Your donation is tax deductible.

We are a cash only shelter due to the costs involved.
