Toby went to Rainbow Bridge today, January 4, 2012.  He has been with us for 3 1/2 years.  He came to the shelter in 2008 and was so afraid that he was moved to the house.  He love it there, running around 4 acres with all the other little misfit dogs.  He was well cared for and very much loved.  Until we meet again my friend.
Burt
We rescued Burt in May of 2010.  He was with us for a long time and we all loved him very much.  He was just a lazy little guy, who loved to look out the window, never distrubing anyone or anything.  In September of 2010 his owner found him at an adoption event, and reunited.  You see Burt had been stolen and dumped by an ugly person.  His owner thought we were wonderful for taking Burt in, that he was blessed - we like to think we were blessed to have known him for those months.  Burt has now gone to Rainbow Bridge to run and play and keep an eye over us and the other shelter animals.  Sept 2011
Dear sweet little Finch - we will miss you - your little heart just was not strong enough to keep you with us long enough to find you a home - we are sorry and we will miss you!  July 2011
PJ
PJ & Tilli two of our rescues but were not adoptable due to age or health issues.  They stay in a wonderful home with 4 acres and lots of love from Aliyson & Rosie.  These were all rescued from animal control.  PJ came to us in 2003 and was a senior of at least 10 yrs back then. He was malnourished, had scoliosis, barely any hair, and a torn eyelid.  Tilli came in 2009, a very old little girl who quickly bonded with PJ.  They crossed together in February 2011.

Bandit
Bandit and Izzy passed unexpectedly in Feburary 2011.  Bandit was rescued at 5 years old, quite a mess but full of love.  Izzy was rescued as a baby full of energy and spunk.  They were 10 years old when they passed away.  They are missed greatly.  As their little 5 year old owner said "God Bless Izzy on her first day in heaven"  God Bless Bandit now too.
Below is a video dedicated to the memory of Hahn's (Haas) a past resident of our shelter and a message from his loving owner.
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the past 8 years I had with this dog. I trained him to be a police work dog, and he was one of the best narcotics dogs I have ever seen. This past fall we received certifications in narcotics detection, obedience, article search, aggression, and tracking.  His temperament and personality were unmatched, and he made friends everywhere he went. He was truly a sociable work dog, and there are not many of those out there.  Unfortunately, on Feb.4, Hahns died unexpectedly after it was found that he had a tumor growing on his spleen that had ruptured and  e bled internally. When the emergency vet opened him up, it was their intent to control the bleeding and remove the mass, however the bleeding was  much more extensive than they realize and Hahns did not survive the surgery.   We at Southside Animal Shelter thank you for all the love you gave to one of our friends and we send you are most heartfelt symphany.

Timber came to the shelter almost 2 years ago.  He was the cutest little chihuahua who thought he was bigger than a great dane.  We all loved Timber so much and will miss him.  These little senior doggies that are tossed away by thier owners in their final days touch our hearts so much.  Special thanks to Alyson for being the best guardian a puppy could want.  Rest in peace our little friend.

Prancer crossed over Rainbow Bridge
July 2, 2010
Never has there been a sweeter, gentler friend than our Prancer.  He is missed so much.  Prancer came to us as a senior a little over 2 years ago - the tag on his cage where he was originally surrendered said "too old for adoption, see if Rosie wants" -- she wanted, we wanted, we loved.

Everett - Feb 2010 -- a little man that tought us all patience - always trying to remember what a horrible life he must have had before joining our family
